Dr Michael Mccombs New Philadelphia OH Death – Dr. Michael McCombs, a respected physician, loving father, and avid outdoorsman, passed away on May 11, 2025, at the age of 59 while enjoying the peace and serenity of nature, one of his greatest passions. Dr. McCombs, who was known for his compassionate care and dedication to his patients, leaves behind a legacy that has touched countless lives in Tuscarawas County and beyond.
Born on March 11, 1966, in New Kensington, Pennsylvania, Dr. McCombs was the son of Allen and Barbara (Johnson) McCombs. Throughout his life, he developed a deep appreciation for the outdoors, which he often shared with family and friends. Whether he was hunting, fishing, or camping, Mike found solace in the natural world, and it was there that he spent his final moments, in the environment he cherished the most.
Dr. McCombs’ journey to becoming a physician was driven by his desire to serve others. After serving in the United States Air Force, he pursued medical school, ultimately returning to Tuscarawas County to care for the community that had shaped him. For many years, he was a trusted and compassionate doctor, treating patients with both expertise and a warm heart. His colleagues and patients alike spoke of his caring nature, attentiveness, and dedication to improving the health and well-being of everyone he encountered.
“Mike truly loved being a doctor, and his patients felt that. He would listen, he would care, and he made sure they felt heard. It was his passion, and it made him one of the most respected physicians in the area,” shared a longtime colleague.
As much as he loved his work, Mike was also devoted to his family. He is survived by his two sons, Mitchell and Connor McCombs, and his beloved mother, Barbara McCombs. Mike also leaves behind his siblings, who remember him as a caring and joyful presence in their lives. Mike was preceded in death by his father, Allen McCombs, a loss that left a lasting impact on him, though it never dampened his spirit or love for life.
A private service will be held at a later date, as per Dr. McCombs’ wishes. The family has asked that, in lieu of flowers, friends and family honor Mike’s memory by keeping his smile and the joy he found in caring for others at the forefront of their minds. Cremation care has been entrusted to the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home and Crematory.
Though his time on this earth was far too short, Dr. Michael McCombs leaves behind a lasting impact on everyone he touched. His dedication to his patients, his love for his family, and his deep connection to the outdoors will never be forgotten. The community of Tuscarawas County will remember Dr. McCombs not only for his exceptional skills as a physician but for the kindness and compassion he showed in every aspect of his life.
